It takes place in Textopolis which is a world inside a smartphone inhabited by various emojis. Gene who is an emoji is ashamed he has multiple facial expressions while his colleagues only have one. He then goes on a quest on how to be like everyone else.
There were a few scenes in the movie wherein I actually laughed. Considering that the movie revolves about something as "shallow" as cellular phone emojis becoming "alive", it was surprisingly not as corny as I feared- at least some parts.
