Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah’s highly-anticipated new K-drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha finally premiered on Netflix last Saturday! The drama follows a dentist named Yoon Hye Jin and an unemployed jack-of-all-trades Hong Du Sik who meet in the seaside village of Gongjin. Despite their differences and their constant bickering, the two find themselves growing fun of each other and building a different kind of chemistry.

The drama premiered at No. 1 in South Korea, making it one of the dramas with the most successful pilot episode premieres.

Top K-Pop Songs of All Time

Korean music platform and newspaper Seoul Shinmun revealed their list of Top 100 K-Pop songs, based on the songs’ domestic and international influence, performance, creativity, music videos, and choreography. The top artists are BTS (5 songs), SHINEE (4 songs), Girls’ Generation, IU, f(x), Seo Taiji and Boys (3 songs each), and 2NE1, Wonder Girls, TVXQ, and S.E.S (2 songs each).

The top 10 songs include BOA’s “No. 1,” EXO’s “Growl,” PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” BTS’ “Dynamite,” Girls’ Generation’s “Gee,” Girls’ Generation’s “Into the New World,” 2NE1’s “I Am the Best,” Brown Eyed Girls’ “Abracadabra,” Wonder Girls’ “Tell Me,” and TVXQ’s “Mirotic.”

Money Heist

Money Heist Part 5: Volume 1 is coming this September, and with this comes the introduction of new cast members — Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Patrick Criado, and José Manuel Seda. The first volume of Money Heist Part 5 will continue to follow The Gang, who’s been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours, and has been able to rescue Lisbon. The Professor has also been captured by Sierra, and doesn’t have an escape plan for the first time. Just as they think as if nothing can go wrong, a more powerful enemy — the army — comes on the scene. And what began as a robbery turns into a war as the end of the greatest heist in history approaches.

D.P.

Another Netflix title that premiered last week is D.P. The 6-episode original series follows a young private named Ahn Jun Ho who becomes a part of the military’s Deserter Pursuit unit. Along with Corporal Han Ho Yeol, the two chase down deserter or AWOL soldiers, eventually learning their stories and their reasons for doing so.

The drama stars Jung Hae In, Koo Kyo Hwan, Kim Sung Kyun, Son Suk Ku, and more.

Cowboy Bebop

Netflix has revealed last week the first-look photos for the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. The upcoming title is based on the popular anime series of the same title and is a Space Western show about a ragtag crew of bounty hunters who are ready to track down and catch the solar system’s most dangerous criminals for the right price. This is all while they try to outrun their own pasts.

John Cho, Mustafe Shakir, and Daniella Padilla star in this series.
