The Staircase

Premieres May 5

Created and written by Antonio Campos and Maggie Cohn, it is base on the 2004 true crime docuseries of the same name created by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade. It follows a writer convicted of murdering his wife, who was found dead at the bottom of their staircase in their home. It stars Colin Firth and Toni Colette.

The Forever Purge

Premieres May 7

Directed by Everardo Valerio Gout, it is the fifth film in the Purge franchise and a sequel to The Purge: Election Year. It follows a group of people who attempt to escape the United States after an insurrectionist movement continues committing crimes and murders nationwide after the Purge’s ending. It stars Ana de la Reguera, Tenoch Huerta, Josh Lucas, Cassidy Freeman, and more.


Needle in a Timestack

Premieres May 14

Written and directed by John Ridley, it is based on the short story of the same name by Robert Silverberg. It follows Nick and Janine who live in bliss until her ex warps in time to tear them apart by using Nick’s old girlfriend. As Nick’s memories and reality disappear, he must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice. It stars Leslie Odom Jr., Freida Pinto, Cynthia Ervivo, Orlando Bloom, and Jadyn Wong.

A Quiet Place Part II

Premieres May 28

Written, produced and directed by John Krasinski, it is a sequel to 2018’s A Quiet Place, following the family from the first film as they continue to navigate and survive in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind aliens with an acute sense of hearing. It stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cillian Murphy, and Djimon Hounsou.

The Time Traveler’s Wife

Premieres in May

Directed by David Nutter, it is a TV series based on the novel of the same name by Audrey Niffenegger. It follows Henry, a man who has a genetic disorder that makes him travel time unpredictably, and Claire, his wife who has to cope with his frequent absences. It stars Theo James and Rose Leslie.
