Chadwick Boseman
The news of Chadwick Boseman’s passing trended all over social media on August 29. According to the family’s post on Twitter from last Saturday, the actor was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016, and he battled the illness for four years up until it progressed to Stage IV. Throughout this period, the actor was able to do films, bringing to life Black Panther’s King T’Challa, Marshall’s Thurgood Marshall, and more, all while undergoing treatments. He died in his home with his family. He was 43.
Julie and the Phantoms
Netflix has recently just dropped the trailer to its upcoming musical series, Julie and the Phantoms, which is directed by the High School Musical director, Kenny Ortega! The series follows a teenager named Julie who rekindles her love for music after meeting three ghostly boys. The series stars Madison Reyes, Charlie Gillespie, Owen Patrick Joyner, and Jeremy Shada. It premieres on Netflix this September 10.

Bill & Ted Face the Music
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters star in Bill & Ted Face the Music — the third installment to the science fiction comedy film series. The sequel to the 1991 film Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, it centers on the two Californian rockers who visit versions of their future selves to find the hit song that they’ve been prophesied to write back in the 90s.

Cobra Kai
Here’s good news if you still haven’t seen the first two seasons of Cobra Kai: the show is now streaming on Netflix! Cobra Kai is an action-comedy series set 34 years after the original Karate Kid film. It tells the story of Johnny Lawrence who reopens the Cobra Kai karate dojo, leading him to rekindle his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso. It stars Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Xolo Maridueña, and more.

2020 MTV Video Music Awards
The MTV Video Music Awards happened today, celebrating the best music videos in the past few months. Some of the recognized acts in today’s event include Lady Gaga (Artist of the Year), BTS (Best Group), Doja Cat (Push Best New Artist), Ariana Grande (Best Music Video from Home for ‘Stuck with U’ with Justin Bieber), and The Weeknd (Video of the Year for “Blinding Lights”). They were also among the performers this year.
