"Ashfall" is a blockbuster Korean movie with spectacular catastrophic set pieces. I think one thing they had an edge over big budgeted Hollywood films is that they successfully deliver the dramatic and emotional angles in "disaster" films. The con: subplots and the multi-genre takes away the momentum. Fist 10 minutes aksyon agad very San Andreas, then becomes a political drama, tapos action heist stealing a nuke from North Korea, comedic moments fell flat until babawi by the climactic last 30 minutes. In fairness K-pop star Bae Su-zy has cinematic moments as the pregnant wife but it's the bromance with the two protagonists that pulls everything together. Spoiler, not everyone survives! Hahah!
