About the Event

Artery Art Space is pleased to present “Better Tomorrow Than Today” featuring works by Andre Baldovino, Rene Bituin, Geremy Samala, and Eva Yu, that explores the divide between abstraction and the ideal of tomorrow, where the future would signal advancement, and abstraction as utopian project by way of objective representation.

Better Tomorrow

The exhibit thus considers painting today, pondering on its internal conflict as carriers of indirect communication in the time of instantaneous information: the diversity and indeterminacy of signifiers lending to the postmodern or to post-internet paradigms - abstraction as ghost in the machine haunting today’s mediascape with stored memories of a bright future yet to be realized.

Andre Baldovino graduated from the College of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. He has shown at ArtistSpace Ayala Museum, Art Anton, Vetro, and Pinto Art Museum. Rene Bituin studied at Far Eastern University, and has various exhibitions with Artery Art Space, Blanc Gallery, Mono8 Gallery, Underground Gallery, and West Gallery, to name a few. Geremy Samala has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Far Eastern University, showing at various galleries including Artery Art Space, Kaida Contemporary, Pundido, Underground Gallery, and Ysobel Gallery. Eva Yu graduated from De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, AB-Fashion Design and Merchandising, having various exhibits at Artery Art Space, Blanc Gallery, Mono8 Gallery, Project 20, and Vinyl on Vinyl Gallery.
