About the Event

Tin-aw Art Gallery welcomes 2018 with its first exhibition titled “Hakos.”  The show features the works of Ambie Abaño, Salvador Alonday, Ralph Barrientos, Nathalie Dagmang, Brenda Fajardo, Riel Hilario, Noli Principe Manalang, Ferdie Montemayor, Caroline Ongpin, Anthony Palomo and Ioannis Sicuya.

Hakos

“Hakos” is a Hiligaynon word which means embrace.  The artists interpret the word in various mediums from pottery, paintings, mixed media, print and sculpture.

In an essay about the show,   artist Ioannis Sicuya says “An embrace is somewhat a paradoxical act; an embrace’s worth and meaning is beyond physical, although it’s a very physical gesture. We embrace in moments of triumph and elation, and we embrace in times of defeat and sorrow. It is when we are locked in an embrace that we are at our most vulnerable but at the same time it is when we can feel more secure. It can come from a loved one or a well-meaning stranger.”

The exhibition runs until February 3, 2018. To view,  visit Tin-aw at The Upper Ground Floor of Somerset Olympia Building, Makati Avenue.  For inquiries, please contact the gallery landline 750-2595.  Or check the website www.tin-aw.com.
