Hailed as a young virtuoso at 15, and since described by the Philippine Star as "a phenomenal violinist" and by Malaya News as "mesmerizing", Chino Gutierrez has been actively performing and giving recitals every year in and outside Metro Manila, as well as in several countries abroad. He has also represented the Philippines in the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition and the Singapore International Violin Festival.

Gutierrez began his study of the violin at age 7, under the tutelage of Alfonso Bolipata. At 9, he won second prize at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA), and won the first prize in the same national competition when he was 12. He gave his first solo recital at age of 10, to public and critical acclaim. He made his orchestral debut at the same age at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, performing Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole. He has since performed with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, and Moscovia String Orchestra, under conductors Yoshikazu Fukumura, Francisco Feliciano, Oscar Yatco, Josefino Toledo, and Eduard Grach.

At 14, Gutierrez was admitted to the State Academy for Music and Theater in Munich, Germany, under Jens Ellermann. His violin education further flourished in the same institution under Olga Voitova-Bloch and Christoph Poppen. Most recently, he was accepted to the renowned Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, where he will train under the legendary violinist and pedagogue Pierre Amoyal.

The September 23 concert will feature the following programme: Schubert's "Grand Duo" Sonata; Brahms' Violin Sonata #2; Milstein's "Paganiniana"; Elgar's "La Capricieuse"; Chausson's "Poème"; Gershwin's "Summertime", transcribed for violin by Jascha Heifetz; "No Du Duaem Pay" an Ilocano folk song transcribed by Redentor Romero; and Ysaye's "Caprice on an Etude by Saint-Saens". Collaborating artist is pianist Mary Anne Espina.
