Your #WanderlandFest 2014 Recap in Photos

With its inviting lineup comprised of 13 stellar acts in today’s music scene, I went to this year’s Wanderland with high hopes for an amazing day of great music, and I’m glad it turned out to be an unforgettable experience for a first-time Wanderer like me.

My fellow Wanderers are probably still reeling from the revelry that happened during the second Wanderland Music and Arts Festival last May 17, 2014 at the Globe Circuit Events Ground. With its inviting lineup comprised of 13 stellar acts in today’s music scene, I went to this year’s Wanderland with high hopes for an amazing day of great music, and I’m glad it turned out to be an unforgettable experience for a first-time Wanderer like me.

I was among the many concertgoers who camped out in the afternoon sun and bore witness to some of the festival’s early acts. It was a pleasure to hear the sets of the Wanderband winners Chocolate Grass, Brisom, and The Ransom Collective, and become instant fans of their respective music. Other personal highlights that afternoon included hearing Australian singer/songwriter Woody Pitney’s folk spin on Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine,” dancing to Techy Romantics’ short but always sweet and enjoyable set, and securing a spot near the barricade to rock out to Franco.  Closing out the afternoon lineup were English songwriter Lucy Rose, whose charm and music kept us going despite the brief rain shower during her set, and Australian indie folk band The Paper Kites, who performed to a glorious sunset and were completely taken by the crowd’s singing during “Bloom.”

It was a great sight to see crowd on their feet and in high spirits during the much-anticipated, evening acts, which churned out one unforgettable memory after another. There were the deafening screams that echoed after every song the Last Dinosaurs  finished (perhaps even decibel-breaking shrieks, especially after singing “Zero,” a new song that will “hopefully be on their next album,” and successfully covering The Strokes’ “What Ever Happened?” for the very first time ever),  the plethora of OPM artists that took the stage during the Wonderful All Stars set, and the proper, classical music that introduced The Royal Concept’s manic and upbeat set that made us all go crazy to songs like “Goldrushed,” “Damn,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” and “On Our Way.” We closed out the day with colorful pop jams from Architecture in Helsinki and welcomed the early hours of the next morning collectively singing our favorite anthems from festival headliner, The Drums.
