After the release of films like 6 Underground and The Old Guard, Netflix announced that there’s another film coming that spy geeks should watch out for! Chris Evans will be working together with Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo for The Gray Man. The actor stars alongside Ryan Gosling, who will be playing the titular “Gray Man”.
The Gray Man is based on Mark Greaney’s novel of the same name and centers on Court Gentry, an assassin and a former CIA operative who’s hunted all over the world by his Lloyd Hansen. The book series it came from was turned into a book franchise, so there’s a possibility that the film will also make way for a franchise if successful.
There’s not much information yet on the film, but Deadline reported that the film will have a budget of about $200 million, and a scale that’s comparable to the James Bond franchise.
“The intention is for it to be competitive with any theatrical, and the ability to do with Gosling and Evans is a dream for us. The idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe, with Ryan at the center of it. We have all committed to the first movie, and thatās got to be great to get us to the second movie,” Joe Russo said in a statement to Deadline.
Production for The Gray Man will kick off next year.
