This is a mess. It's a well-intentioned mess, but a mess nonetheless. Tirso Cruz is a great actor. I was most interested in his story. He should have been the lead here. The two old guys serve as a backdrop to the children's stories. This is not about two old gay guys (well the other one seemed to have just used the other) dealing with ageing. This is about adult children being like children.
If you have any plans to pour your eyes and hearts out from crying this week, this MMFF movie entry is the one I recommend you to watch. This may be biased on my point of view, but this one really hit some soft spots.
This movie would hit hard against the norms in many aspects. This points out that there are kinds of love in existence. This movie is not to justify a stand against what the norms feels wrong and unacceptable.
This is a reminder to all fellow friends the kind of love we can give and receive. Some may say that we have wrong understanding of love. As a human being, created with humanity and compassion, I would not accept such statement. I would go, give and take the love I deserve.
