After a raunchy and hilarious ride with Nimfa Dimaano and her canine lovers, it looks like Rocketsheep Studio’s sequel to Hayop Ka! will now poke fun at Filipino action films and shows!
Rocketsheep Studio posted on social media a first-look image for their next project, The Jerry Action Bonanza, which features a familiar frog! Check it out below:
As Hayop Ka! viewers will recall, Jerry is Iñigo’s personal driver who likes to crack jokes. Voiced by Empoy Marquez, the frog also becomes a close friend to Nimfa towards the end of the film.
“We are in the very early stages of developing the HAYOP KA! sequel,” read the caption of the post. “Highly inspired by Pinoy Action films.”
If Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story is a comedic adult animation flick packed with romantic clichés, it looks like this next film is filled with TV and movie tropes from Filipino action films and shows. Perhaps these will include familiar scenarios such as conversing before a shootout or the police arriving just right after all the action has ended.
Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story is directed by Avid Liongoren (Saving Sally) and it was released on Netflix late last year. This July, the streaming platform will also be releasing the Filipino anime series, TRESE, which has just unveiled its trailer last week.
Meanwhile, back in March, the Filipino co-director of Inside Out Ronnie Del Carmen also revealed that he is producing an animated Netflix film featuring Philippine mythology.
