Chocolate Chip Cookies

GUIDE: Where To Buy Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies in Manila

Whether you like it crispy, chewy, or soft, you can never go wrong with the classic chocolate chip cookies.

For times your sweet tooth prefers something simple, the classic chocolate chip cookies will put a big smile on your face. A mixture starts with sugar, butter, eggs, flour, and chocolate chips but every cookie you meet just isn’t the same. Every baker has obsessed over a recipe until they’ve perfected their own, so yes, it’s extremely special in its own way. Whether you like it crispy, chewy, or soft, you can never go wrong with the classic chocolate chip cookies. In this list, we’ve put together some of our favorite cookies in the metro:

Aly’s Cookie Bar

These soft batch cookies are my go-to cookies in Manila. Other than these being available almost all the time, they get even better after some time in the fridge. Aly’s Cookie Bar has buttery, moist, and soft cookies using only high-quality ingredients! Try their Triple Chocolate Chunk priced at P450/6pcs or their Soft Batch Nibblers which are highly addictive priced at P250/15pcs.

Baekery.Kiosk

Baekery.Kiosk may be under the radar but they’re definitely worth checking out! If you like your cookies soft in the middle that almost has a half-baked texture, you will love this. Each cookie has an extremely soft center, it would be too hard not to finish one in a sitting. Order a box and pair it with their cold brew coffee!

Bake Scout

Whether it’s for a box of four or a box of 30 (!!!), these soft and gooey chocolate chip cookies loaded with Belgian chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt are hard to resist. Pro tip: Order more and store them in the freezer which retains the quality for up to 2 weeks! Price ranges from P120 to P840.

Goo.

According to their bio, they are premium Levain-inspired cookies crafted to perfection. Levain is a New York-based bakery that specializes in cookies but unlike Levain which specializes in 6-oz cookies, Goo’s cookies weigh at 100g. Choose from the Classic Goo or Double Goo, which you guess right, has double the amount of chocolate in them. Price ranges from P350 to P850.

Kukidō

A play on the word cookie dough, they offer freshly baked, chewy, and oozing with generous filling cookies every day. What’s unique about them is they encourage their customers to go wild on cookie combinations, so anything really goes. And unlike other cookie shops, the Klasik has chunky chocolates that make the cookies extra ooey and gooey. It is available in kukies (130g), munchies (65g), and minis (30g).

Moloko

Moloko has over twenty cookie variants that make it so hard to choose. Make sure you check out their NY-Style Chips ‘N’ Chunx (P580/3pcs; P1,110/6pcs) which are thick and chunky for times you want to indulge in a rich and decadent cookie.

The Bald Baker

Another personal favorite but extremely hard to get is The Bald Baker’s cookies. The Basic Betch is made with three kinds of flour and mixed with three kinds of couverture chocolates, finished off with some sea salt flakes. Make sure you follow him on Instagram! Other than showing off his dancing skills, he posts random TTMOs where he gives his followers a chance to get a hold of his extra boxes of cookies on the same day.

Twenty Four Bakeshop

Bigger than your palm cookies, Twenty Four Bakeshop’s The Chocolate Chip is made with 54% Belgian and 77% Davao dark chocolate. Their cookies have a nice thickness to them that you can still finish a piece with your tastebuds wanting more.

Two Bakers

Another thick and chunky cookie, Two Bakers’ Triple Chocolate features three kinds of chocolate — white, milk, and dark chocolate. Make sure you have some milk or coffee on the side as this is a bit indulgent!

Soeur

It may be a bit tricky to pronounce but it’s worth trying! Their Classic Chocolate Chip is not overwhelmingly sweet despite the huge chunks of milk and dark chocolates. It also has a good cookie dough to chocolate ratio! Order a box of 4 or 6 (P280/P380). They’re based in the South but have pick-ups in Pasic and Quezon City every Tuesday and Friday.
