The last film of the late Black Panther star, Chadwick Boseman, has been revealed by Netflix.
The movie titled Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom stars Viola Davis in the lead role, while Boseman played the part of a band member. It is a film adaptation of August Wilson’s award-winning play of the same name.
Set in Chicago during the 1920s, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom follows the recording session headlined by blues singer Ma Rainey. As the other recording artists await her arrival, a discussion about race, religion, and music takes place.
The film is directed by the two-time Tony-winning director George C. Wolfe. Actors Glynn Turman, Michael Potts, and Colman Domingo also star in the film alongside Davis and Boseman.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom premieres on Netflix this December 18.
Back in August, Chadwick Boseman’s official social media accounts announced the passing of the actor due to colon cancer. It was revealed that the star had kept his illness in secret for four years.
