Sofitel Philippine Plaza launches the Grand Plaza Ballroom

The much-awaited transformation of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza’s Grand Plaza Ballroom was recently unveiled with over 500 guests from the diplomatic, corporate and high society in attendance.

The much-awaited transformation of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza’s Grand Plaza Ballroom was recently unveiled with over 500 guests from the diplomatic, corporate and high society in attendance. It was an evening of grandeur, sophistication and luxury as guests were treated to a voyage around France. The opening of the new Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila Grand Plaza Ballroom. marked a magnifique milestone in the history of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila – having played a significant part of Manila’s political and social scene since it first opened in 1976. The opening is expected to bring in more years of momentous occasions.

“The USD 5 million renovation of the Grand Plaza Ballroom which include the ballroom, nine meeting rooms as well as a spectacular new winding staircase sets the new standard for magnifique events completing the luxurious transformation of the hotel. The new Grand Plaza Ballroom re-establishes Sofitel’s reputation as the preferred destination for meetings, milestones and grand events.’’ says Sofitel Philippine Plaza General Manager Adam Laker. The total renovated space measure 2,791 sqm and including the two marquees – Harbor Garden Tent and Sunset Pavillion, Sofitel Philippine Plaza has a total of 5,691 sqm of meeting space. The Grand Plaza Ballroom can accommodate 1,000 people for a sit down dinner or buffet and 1,400 people for cocktails making it an ideal venue for grand events.

 

In line with the Sofitel’s brand 50th anniversary, the theme of the celebration was French and gold. A giant Eiffel Tower served as the centerpiece in commemoration of the golden anniversary which was filled with 300 croque en bouche and 300 macarons. French elegance details such as ladies dressed in gold, pouring cocktails on top of an 7 meter long ice bar, down an ice carved Eiffel tower. A 4 meters long Rougie Foie Gras station, special suitcases with Eiffel towers delighted everyone. Highlights of the event included an interactive welcome speech of the General Manager Adam Laker, a 22 piece golden collection of internationally acclaimed designer Albert Andrada and a special toast with French champagne – Moet et Chandon complete with overflowing wine, food and cheese from all over France. The Sofitel Master Chefs prepared 12 ateliers from the two islands depicting Sofitel F&B Rituals, Ice bar Counter, Rougie Foie Gras Terrine variation, cold individual appetizers, carvings,steam & roast, French stove, banquet stove, artisan ice cream variations, chocolab and miniature desserts.
