Filming is underway for director Matt Reeves’ The Batman, his upcoming DC superhero film with Robert Pattinson playing the iconic Gotham vigilante-slash-billionaire.
In a tweet, Reeves shared a photo of the film’s clapboard teasing that the “Day One” for The Batman’s filming has begun. Check out the tweet below:

After Christopher Nolan made the well-received Dark Knight trilogy with Christian Bale as Batman, Ben Affleck followed only to be part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) films without having his stand-alone film as the Caped Crusader. Now Robert Pattinson dons the batsuit and it seems that fans are having high expectations.
We could assume that part of those expectations come from how director Todd Phillips ingeniously pulled off Joker, which leaned more to the psychological thriller genre than the superhero genre, to fans’ delight. Now, Matt Reeves also promises to bring in something different that has not been seen in other Batman films. He teases that The Batman will focus on the detective side of the DC superhero.
“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale.” Reeves tells THG in an interview, “It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
Joining Pattinson are stars Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano as The Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson. The official synopsis and other details for the film has not yet been revealed. It is set to open in Philippine theaters on June 24, 2021.
