Artery Art Space proudly presents "Event Horizon", a three-person show featuring works by Gino Bueza, Don Dalmacio, and Gene Paul Martin, presenting three of Manila's most daring painters who blur the divide between abstraction and represention using techniques that explore surreal narratives, conceptual design, and cutting edge painterly expression.
Producing a mind-bending visceral upgrade to contemporary painting near the shores of science fiction and spectacular phenomena. Gino Bueza's paintings correspond to an alien fusion of larger than life alternate realities depicted within cascading palimpsests of local color and form. Expanses of atmospheric montage broken with stylish glitches and existential cuts become Don Dalmacio's signature approach to painting where he blends urban ennui with poetic violence. Gene Paul Martin's random shuffle of humor, horror, and fantasy depicts painting as an endless improbability of borderline existence that exploits the idioms of abstraction, design, and figuration to produce narratives of contemporary absurdity.
Gino Bueza graduated from the College of Fine Arts, University of the Philippines in 2009 , and has solo exhibitions from West Gallery, MO_Space Gallery, Art Informal, Blanc Gallery, and Finale Art File. Don Dalmacio is a 2009 Cultural Center of the Philippines Thirteen Artists Awardee and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Major from the Far Eastern University in 2003, and he also has solo shows at Blanc Gallery and West Gallery. Gene Paul Martin received his B.F.A. in Painting from the Far Eastern University in 2013, and has solo exhibitions from Secret Fresh Gallery and at Silverlens.
