"OPEN" Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019 8.5/10 Open finds a simplistic story of a couple going through tough times in their relationship and opts to open relationship status to fix things. We find a beautifully simple screenplay that is lifted up and magnified by Arci Munoz's career-best performance as well as a great performance from JC Santos. The story stays true as how it is in real life. I'm just a little disappointed that they didn't explore the open relationship idea more in this film. I have to commend Arci's acting here as she brings out the full emotions the filmmakers intended the audience to feel. Character development was well executed especially with Munoz's character. Also, the sound engineering was superb. The filmmakers knew the right timing to drain out the sound and flood in silence in crucial moments like the conflict at the near-end of the film and the mirror scene of Arci's character. Overall, Open is well-crafted entry to this year's PPP with a simple story that is brought to life by Munoz's well-done acting. Kudos, filmmakers! Must watch
