The animation studio MAPPA has been known for producing the animation of acclaimed series such as Jujutsu Kaisen and the fourth season of Attack on Titan (AoT). During its 10th year anniversary event, the studio has released the first trailer for another anticipated anime adaptation of a popular manga series.
In the one-minute trailer for Chainsaw Man, fans were given a glimpse of the gory and action-packed thriller that will also be helmed by Jujutsu Kaisen director, Ryū Nakayama. Check out the trailer below:
Chainsaw Man follows the poor young man Denji who will do anything for money, even if it’s working as a devil hunter with his dog-like pet devil Pochita. One day, Denji’s sad life is turned upside down when he gets set up to be killed by a devil he’s supposed to hunt. But before he breathes his last, he acquires the power of Pochita, turning him into the human-devil hybrid known as the Chainsaw Man.
Also part of the anime series’ production are Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan’s final season) who will write the series; Kazutaka Sugiyama and Kiyotaka Oshiyama for the design of the characters; Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover) who will direct the action scenes; Yusuke Takeda (Vinland Saga) for the art direction; and Makoto Nakazono who will serve as chief technical director. Kensuke Ushio (Devilman Crybaby, A Silent Voice) will also compose its music.
The voice cast and the release date for the series are yet to be revealed. Chainsaw Man is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. You can read some of its chapters for free at the Manga Plus website.
