Kingdom fans, if you’ve been waiting for more information on when the special episode will be coming out, here’s news you’d definitely want to hear. Netflix has just confirmed that Kingdom: Ashin of the North is set to premiere this July 23! The streaming site announced this with a video that teases the mysterious character we’ll be meeting in the episode.

Kingdom: Ashin of the North tells the origins of the resurrection plant that caused the events and the plague that hit Joseon, and Ashin — a “woman abandoned by all.”
The special episode comes from director Kim Seong Hun, who directed and oversaw the production of the first season of the K-drama. Kim Eun Hee, who wrote the script for the first two seasons will also be returning to tell the story of Ashin and the mysterious plant.
The episode stars Jun Ji Hyun, a.k.a. Gianna Jun, who’ll be playing the adult Ashin, while Kim Sia (The House of Us and Miss Baek) will be portraying her young counterpart. Also starring in the role are Park Byung Eun as Min Chi Rok, the Head of Royal Commandery Division in the time of Crown Prince Lee Chang.
Kingdom: Ashin of the North premieres globally on Netflix this July 23. The first two seasons of Kingdom is now streaming on Netflix.
