Squid Game‘s sudden global popularity also brought international fame to its stars, including the model-turned-actress Jung Ho-yeon who played the role of Player 67, Kang Sae-byeok. The Netflix show is Ho-yeon’s acting debut and three weeks after her appearance, the South Korean model’s Instagram followers increased by 15 million.

Since the fate of her character must mean that she won’t be appearing in the second season, Ho-yeon’s fans are wondering what’s next for Squid Game‘s breakout star. In a ‘keyword interview’ video released by Netflix, the actress says she wants to play a role in a romantic title. Asked what role or genre she wants to try out next, Ho-yeon answers: “Romance. Women who fell in love, I’d like to play that.”

In Netflix’s Squid Game, 456 people who are desperate for money are invited to play six games for the chance to win 45.6 billion won, but if they lose, they will be killed. Jung Ho-yeon’s character, Kang Sae-byeok, is a fierce young woman who crossed the borders between North Korea and South Korea with her younger brother. is planning to use the games’ prize money to reunite her family.

Before the series, Ho-yeon is already known in the field of fashion and beauty, debuting as an international model for Louis Vuitton, and being dubbed by Vogue as Korea’s next top model.
