8 Must-Visit Romantic Destinations in the Philippines

Plan your next couples getaway at these Philippine date!

Love is in the air with Valentine's Day just around the corner! Have you and your boo been itching to get away and spend some quality time away from hectic city life? Whether you're a couple that loves to sunbathe on the beach, go on active adventures, or take leisurely evening strolls, this list has got you covered on travel destinations where you can spend a romantic getaway with your significant other.

El Nido, Palawan

Palawan is known for being one of the most pristine islands in the country, with fine white sands, crystal waters, and lush natural landscapes. El Nido, in particular, is a popular spot for a couple of trips, with plenty of activities to do in El Nido, like island hopping, snorkeling, and kayaking. You can also just spend your day relaxing in their beautiful resorts. Many suggest that one weekend is not enough time here — take a few days off to maximize what this paradise has to offer! This would also be an ideal destination for environment lovers; El Nido is very conscious about preserving their nature and wildlife and exercising eco-friendly practices, so you may be asked to shoulder an environmental fee during your visit.

Boracay

Have you been to Boracay since the major rehabilitation in 2018? If not, now could be a perfect time! With all the changes, like less commercial establishments and stricter policies, many say that this paradise has been restored to its former glory. That is to say, cleaner and more tranquil, rather than overcrowded and noisy. A perfect romantic trip for those who don't need the party scene to enjoy this vacation hot spot! If you do choose Boracay for your couples getaway, you can still enjoy tons of activities like parasailing, jet-skiing, and more. Wind down with a beautiful view of the sunset at the shore's horizon, then wine and dine by an evening at Boracay's luxe hotels.

At Mount Pulag in Benguet, you and your bae will feel like you're on top of the world. But to get there, you need to make sure you're up for the challenge: the long and rather cold hike up to the top. Snacks, water, and thick clothing are a must for this destination! It may seem like quite the climb, but it will all be worth it once you reach the peak and become surrounded by a gorgeous sea of clouds and a breathtaking sunrise. Camp out overnight and see why Pulag is also one of the best, most beautiful stargazing spots in the country. All in all, it's nature lover's heaven, somewhere you can connect with your surroundings (plus chilly weather = more cuddles)!

Tanay, Rizal

Not too far from Metro Manila, you can find a sweet spot to catch some fresh air and have a night under the stars. Tanay would be a great destination for adventurous couples as there's a lot to do — hiking at Mount Daraitan and Daranak Falls, trekking in Masungi Georeserve — but when night falls and it's time to wind down, Tanay offers a spectacular, unobstructed view of the night sky. End your adventure trip with some stargazing before you and your S.O. get back to the daily grind!

Antipolo City

Antipolo is another spot that's easy enough to drive to from the metro, but still far enough that it feels like a getaway. It would make a fun, quick day trip for couples who have busy schedules or just want a few hours of R&R. There are plenty of romantic restaurants that overlook the city for a nice lunch, then you can spend the afternoon at the famous Pinto Art Museum. Don't miss out on Cloud Nine at night time, where you can bask under the moon and stars and have an amazing view of Metro Manila's city lights from above.

Vigan, Ilocos Sur

History and culture fans, this next destination will be perfect for you! A trip to Vigan is the perfect blend of romance and Filipino culture. Every place you go has a little bit of history behind it! Take an early morning stroll together along Calle Crisologo, one of Vigan's most famous spots, and take advantage of the hours when the cobblestone street is quieter and less crowded. You can also go on a Mestizo River cruise, see the picturesque view from the top of Bantay Bell Tower, go on coffee dates in the nearby cafes, and of course, feast on Ilocos empanadas!

Talisay City, Negros Occidental

You'll find this city just a short drive away from Bacolod, Negros Occidental. One of Talisay's most famous and romantic landmarks is The Ruins, the remains of an ancestral mansion owned by the wealthy Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson in the 1900s. The mansion has a somewhat romantic backstory: it is said to have been built by Don Mariano in loving memory of his wife after her untimely death. Now, you can visit the mansion's remains, admire the architecture, roam the lush, breezy gardens that surround it, and enjoy a peaceful meal at the restaurant beside The Ruins.

Baguio City

Make your way up to Baguio to enjoy the "cuddle weather" with your boo, while enjoying all that the city has to offer! There's much to do in Baguio, no matter what activities you enjoy as a couple — strawberry picking, a boating at Burnham Park, viewing art at the BenCab Museum and Museo Kordilyera, ukay-ukay shopping, and more! Come night time, you could check out the famous Session Road, or simply enjoy the cozy weather over a cup of coffee at Cafe By The Ruins. It's also a haven for foodie couples, with plenty of highly-rated restaurants!
