Celebrated every February, Panagbenga is an annual flower festival in Baguio. The term "Panagbenga" comes from a Kankanaey term which means "season of blooming."
In 2017, visitors to the city reached about 1.6 million. This year, with the theme "Celebration of Culture and Creativity," they are expecting 2 million visitors for the entire length of the month-long celebration. On its 23rd year, the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc. (BFFFI) assured visitors that the city is ready for the expected influx of travellers.
The annual fiesta anticipated both by locals and travellers was launched with a Drum and Lyre Parade participated by elementary students. Out of the 11 groups, 8 will be chosen to take part in the much-anticipated Grand Street Dance Parade and Grand Float Parade on February 24 and 25.
For the whole month, Burnham Park will be the host of the Baguio Blooms Exhibition where visitors can enjoy the sight of floral landscapes for the flower competition alongside a market offering Baguio goodies, souvenirs, art pieces and more.
