An island known by most people for its waves, Siargao surely tops the list of must-visits for those who’d want to experience riding the huge waves. However, little do people know that aside from being the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines,” the island has a lot more to offer to those who consider themselves as more of a beach bum than a thrillseeker.
Upon walking along General Luna, Siargao’s main town, you will find a number of people who offer island hopping tours which would usually include a visit in three islands: Dako Island, Guyam Island, and Daku Island.
Dako Island
A visit in Dako Island tops Trip Advisor’s list of things to do in Siargao, and with its powdery white sand beaches and clear blue waters, we wouldn’t really doubt why. Although there are good surfing spots on the other side of the island, tourists may opt to just enjoy the beautiful waters or bask under the heat of the sun. There are also stores and restaurants in the islands where you can have your seafood and meat grilled and cooked for lunch.
Naked Island
True to its name, the Naked Island is exactly just that – naked (well, apart from a few bushes in the island). It is a small island of pure white sand and surrounded by pristine waters anyone would love to take a dip in. The best time to visit the place is during low tide, as the island disappears when high tide comes. Since there aren’t any trees or shade in the island, remember to bring a sunblock to prevent your skin from getting more burnt.
Guyam Island
Compared to the Naked Island, Guyam Island is a circular island abundant of trees where one could stay and relax under during the hottest time of the day. As it’s usually the last stop of every island-hopping tour, you could opt to stay in the island overnight to see the sunset, enjoy and sleep under the night sky, and watch the sunrise while taking a morning swim.
