Nadine Lustre’s Spotify Banner at Times Square

Spotify announced last week that Nadine Lustre is part of Spotify’s EQUAL hub as the country’s first artist of the month. The singer-actress will be appearing on the cover of the Philippines’ EQUAL playlist and on a digital billboard in New York Times Square.

Spotify’s EQUAL Global Music Program puts into the spotlight the work of women creators and gives them a global, cohesive, and branded experience. Saweetie, DUDA BEAT, Griff, Natalia Lafourcade, and Zoe Wees are some of the other artists who are also part of this program.

He’s Into Her

Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano both star in Star Cinema’s upcoming teen series He’s Into Her. The film comes from the Wattpad novel of the same name and follows a girl from a small town as she struggles to fit into a new private school. Chad Vidanes directs the series, which will have 10 episodes.

The series will be streaming on iWant TFC starting May 28.

SB19’s Billboard Music Awards Nomination

SB19 has recently made history for being the first Filipino nominee at the Billboard Music Awards. The group’s nomination is for the Top Social Artist category, where they’re nominated alongside BTS, BLACKPINK, Seventeen, and Ariana Grande. The group took to Twitter their excitement about the news, thanking their fans A’TIN for their love and support. “Iwawagayway ang WATAWAT,” they added.

The 2021 Billboard Music Awards will be happening on May 23, 8PM ET at the Microsoft Theater in LA.

Dark Hole

OCN’s newest K-drama Darka Hole had a promising premiere last Friday, April 30. According to Nielsen Korea, the pilot episode got a combined average nationwide rating of 2.9 percent across tvN and OCN. It follows a group of survivors fighting for their lives against mutant humans who turn into violent monsters. It stars Lee Joon Hyuk and Kim Ok Bin.

The drama is currently streaming on Viu.

The Mitchells vs. The Machines

Another title that premiered last week is Netflix’s The Mitchells vs. The Machines. This is an animated comedy film by the same people who gave us Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It’s about an ordinary family who goes on a road trip and ends up on a quest where they need to save the world from a robot apocalypse. It features the voices of Abbi Jacobson, John Legend, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Olivia Coleman, Doug the Pug, and more.
