Trending News Roundup: BGYO, Genshin Impact, Miss Universe Philippines

We know just how hard it is to keep track and stay updated on everything that has been going on online recently. That is why we’re giving you 5 of the most talked-about entertainment topics in the past couple of days to make catching up easier for you!

Check them out below:

BGYO’s “The Baddest”

P-Pop boy group BGYO has made their comeback last Friday with the song “The Baddest,” accompanied by a music video featuring Liza Soberano! The music video features the group’s five members Gelo, Akira, Nate, Mikki, and JL as secret agent trainees for an elite forced headed by Haliya, which is played by Soberano.

The group debuted back in January with the song “The Light.” You can stream the group’s discography here.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie has finally made an Instagram last week! However, instead of posting photos of herself and her family, the actress-filmmaker used the social media site as a platform to make people more aware of the situation in Afghanistan. Entitled A Letter from an Afghan Girl, her first post shows a photo of a letter sent to her which tells the story of those living in the country.

In the caption, she said: “Watching for decades how Afghan refugees – some of the most capable people in the world – are treated like a burden is also sickening. Knowing that if they had the tools and respect, how much they would do for themselves. And meeting so many women and girls who not only wanted an education but fought for it. Like others who are committed, I will not turn away. I will continue to look for ways to help. And I hope you’ll join me.”

Genshin Impact 2.1 Update

After the big Inazuma update in version 2.0, Mihoyo has announced last Friday more exciting details on the upcoming Genshin Impact 2.1 update, which is set to happen this September. From the 2.1 trailer released during the event, players can now start saving up for the new 4-star Electro character Kujou Sara, 5-star Hydro catalyst Kokomi, and the highly-anticipated Electro Archon Raiden Shogun. The trailer also gave players a glimpse of the new World and Weekly Bosses, regions, limited events, and new activities to do in the world of Teyvat (FISHING!).

Genshin Impact Ver. 2.1 is set to arrive this September 1.

Sweet Girl

Jason Momoa’s latest Netflix film Sweet Girl is now streaming! The film, which premiered last Friday, centers on Ray Cooper, a family man who promises to seek justice against a pharmaceutical company that pulls a potentially life-saving drug from the market before his wife dies. His search leads to a deadly encounter that puts him and his daughter in danger. Aside from Momoa, Adria Arjona, Isabela Merced, Justin Bartha, and more also star in this film.

Miss Universe Philippines

The Miss Universe Philippines organization announced last night its Top 50, which comes after the runway and casting video challenges. Aside from this, the organization also announced that Cebu province’s Steffie Rose Aberasturi topped the runway challenge, while Pangasinan’s Maureen Wroblewitz ranked first in the casting video challenge.

The Top 50 candidates will now go through a virtual interview challenge, which will be streamed via YouTube and the Official Miss Universe. The Top 30 who will be chosen will be the ones competing on September 25’s coronation night.

Homestream images are from BGYO’s official Facebook page and screenshot from Genshin Impact’s v2.1 trailer.
