Sick of getting spoilers from friends who live tweet your favorite series? Tired of getting too much negativity from your eternally pessimistic friend? What about that oversharer who constantly tweets about his every move (“Snack time! Munching on chips. Yum!”)?
Now, you can shut them up with the 'mute' feature.

Twitter has just announced that it will be rolling out the 'mute' feature on its iPhone and Android apps, and on the web. To access the 'mute' feature, just tap the gear icon on the user's profile page and select 'mute'. Muting a user will prevent you from seeing his tweets and Twitter activities from your timeline. But unlike the unfollow button (which basically sends a “Friendship Over!” message), the muted user won't be able to know that you've chosen to hide his tweets and will still be able to retweet, reply, and favorite your tweets, blissfully aware that you have banished him from your online world.
Can't see the 'mute' feature on your account yet? Fret not. Twitter will be rolling it out to everyone in the coming weeks.
