Samsung Unveils ‘Ballie’, a Mini BB-8 For Your Smart Home

A cute little ball is your latest home assistant!

Samsung has made this year's International CES the stage to unveil their latest innovation to consumer technology: the Ballie.

Ballie is a small rolling robot that promises the next level of personal care. During the CES, Samsung Electronics' President and CEO of Consumer Electronics Division H.S. Kim explained how Ballie's AI capabilities can understand, support, and react to the needs of its owner to be actively helpful around the house.

To give us a better look, Samsung also released a demo video for the rolling robot. Check it out below:

As seen in the clip, Ballie is not just a fitness assistant, it can also control your smart home to provide for you and your family's needs. It even becomes your smart surveillance camera, and shares to you the special moments at home. Samsung promises that it can do all these while maintaining stringent data protection and privacy standards.

Besides Ballie, Chief Design Innovation Officer of Samsung Design Innovation Center Federico Casalegno also led the demonstration for Samsung's GEMS (Gait Enhancing & Motivating System). It showed how consumers can use AR glasses to do their work out in front of a virtual trainer. It can also tailor a personal exercise routine based on its aggregated and analyzed results.
