UNBREAKABLE(2019). Honestly, I had expected and taught of a much more deeper twist for UNBREAKABLE but the first and the last scene, though predictable were intensely executed, though the ending was a little rushed and somewhat included for a mere closure. I get it now why the film is rated R-13 because of its mature take on friendship tested through time and trials. I would agree that it did not showcased friendship after all but the end scene shows what and how far can we owe our time to a friend in need. It’s unique take on rampant social issues is what makes it more interesting. The scenes were at times rushed and cut into pieces for a much smoother transition from one scene to another but the Mamee’s did it again, Bea Alonzo and Angelica Panganiban proved that they are this generation’s phenomenal movie queens. Richard Gutierrez needs more polishing and more acting experiences but he played his parts comfortably. But we must give the credit to the Mamee’s and Ms. Gloria Diaz who was really suited for the role of “Mama Helen.” Since it’s year 2019 and Filipino movies start to become more unexpected and more interesting and well thought of stories, UNBREAKABLE went beyond the usual denouement and cliche plots in most Filipino movies, though they are predictable twists. The confrontation scene made me at the edge of my seat but there was that scene which made me uncomfortable, it was the one when Richard and Bea’s confrontation because it is somehow poorly made and acted but the main premise of the film prevailed in the end. It needs a little polishing and more believable acting but overall, the movie is worth your time.
