First Man is a tremendous film deconstructing the America’s journey towards the historical first landing of the moon, through the most personal and intimate angle of Neil Armstrong’s life and psyche during his ordeal and subsequent achievement. Impressively shot in film that harkens back to an authentic 1960s aesthetic, filled with powerful yet subtle emotional beats from some of hollywood’s top performers and breathtakingly realistic space based cinematography, this film depicting the bygone space race is an absolute triumph.
