I love the fresh take on the horror/love story genre, the camera work was well executed! I appreciate them taking time to show the contrast of Jewel's mundane day-to-day activities versus the "other half" of her being. There was also a great build up on how they reveal the Manananggal in the last part of the film. visually, there was a good play of light and shadow, making the creature more terrifying (less is more), again, great visual story telling. The only thing that i found distracting was how music was used, I really can't put my finger on it but there were some scenes that were better off with no music at all. The songs were great, but I'm just not sure if it worked well for some of the scenes. Overall, a great movie, great cast, a unique take on the Manananggal lore, smart visual storytelling and I'm looking forward to what comes next if they decide to make a sequel.
