Personally, i'm just getting tired of these poverty porn films that's starting to congest our local indie scene. The themes of hopelessness, and isolation from higher class, has been overplayed and it seems like we have yet to see more. Is it really easier to exploit such setting given our local film industry's financial capacity that's always constrained or even under-budgeted? On a positive light, Hasmin Killip gave a tremendous performance and soul to her role. The scene where she found out that they caught the wrong baby, was just natural and I wondered how she was able to convey such complicated emotion. The profanity felt natural. The film overall reminds me of Brillante Mendoza's works, and the black-comedy "Last Supper Number 3". I have no problem with the film, technical-wise. I think it's terrific. It's just that this is the kind of film that I would want to see the least these days. I think something's wrong with my mood. ??
