AMakoto Shinkai is really the crown prince of Japanese animation. Even though this movie happens in the same universe as its predecessor YOUR NAME, it would be remiss to compare the two. Definitely worth a watch.

It's hard not to compare it to Makoto Shinkai's previous masterpiece--"Your Name" (my favorite all-time Japanese movie). Almost everything felt similar--Radwimp's soundtrack, the stunning visuals and attention to detail was topnotch. Only the love story was just not as intense and emotionally impacting like Taki and Mitsuha's. The movie delivers a strong message to everyone regarding worsening global warming as it's a shock how Japan's capital depressingly ended in the movie. I believe I could've enjoyed this more had I not re-watched Kimi No Nawa just recently. Loved the surprise cameos, though. Hahah! SunshineGirl.TheRunaways.FishDroplets.
