TINCAN Films revealed today that Pepe Herrera will be playing the lead role in the upcoming PH adaptation of the hit Korean film My Sassy Girl. This comes a few days after the production company announced that Toni Gonzaga will be playing the unnamed lead girl in the film.
With this announcement comes more first-look photos of Herrera and Gonzaga in the film. Check it out below:
Pepe Herrera will be playing the Filipino counterpart of Cha Tae Hyun’s Gyun Woo, a college student whose life basically revolves around hanging out with friends, picking up girls, and avoiding his nagging mother. Things take a turn for him after meeting a drunk girl (played by Jun Ji Hyun) while riding the subway. He ends up encountering the girl again in numerous situations, eventually finding himself in a relationship that he didn’t ask for.
My Sassy Girl, which comes from writer and director Kwak Jae Yeon, became a hit inside and outside South Korea when it premiered back in 2001. The PH remake comes just in time for the original film’s 20th anniversary.
