FIRST LOOK: Toni Gonzaga in the PH Remake of the Korean Film ‘My Sassy Girl’

The PH remake is in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original Korean film.

Production company TinCan Films has announced yesterday that Toni Gonzaga will be starring in the Filipino remake of the hit Korean rom-com film, My Sassy Girl. This is to celebrate 20 years since the film first premiered in Korean cinemas.

Alongside this announcement, the production company also released first-look stills of the actress in the upcoming film. She will be playing the role of the Sassy Girl, originally portrayed by Jun Ji Hyun.

Check it out below and see if you can take a guess on which scenes from the movie they’re from:

The original Korean film follows Gyun Woo, a college student who lives his life picking up girls, drinking with his friends, and avoiding his nagger of a mother. His life changes forever when he meets a drunk girl who vomits on another passenger while riding the subway. After this encounter, Gyun Woo finds himself in numerous situations with the girl, and in a relationship with her that he didn’t ask for.

The 2001 film stars Cha Tae Hyun as Gyun Woo and Jun Ji Hyun as the girl. It comes from director Kwak Jae Yeon, who also penned the screenplay. The film became a hit inside and outside South Korea, playing a role in the spread of the “Korean wave.”

According to TinCan Films, they will be announcing Gonzaga’s leading man in the film separately.
