MMFF 2020: Metro Manila Film Festival Online Reveals Price & Platform

The streaming price is a steal!

Watching films from the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) lineup has become part of Filipinos’ Christmas traditions. But since we’re well aware of the risks regarding Christmas parties and other social gatherings, we can also expect that going to cinemas with our families just like in the past wouldn’t be possible.

Earlier this month, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the annual film festival will stream online. Now their plans are further taking shape, having forged partnerships with Globe Telecom and the new streaming platform Upstream.

Tickets will be available at Globe’s GMovies and the movies will be streamed via Upstream. For the price of P250, the whole family can already enjoy one film from the entries, which is a steal compared to our annual trips to cinemas.

They’ve also revealed four of the films that will be in the lineup, namely: Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan, Magikland, Praybeyt Benjamin 3,
and The Exorcism of My Siszums. They are eyeing the finalization of all the eight films by the end of November. The Parade of The Stars and the Awards Night that have always been part of the festival will also happen online.

Being fully aware of the risks of piracy, Globe also pushes their #PlayItRight advocacy forward. This is to educate viewers on the consequences of piracy, the legal implications, how it deprives the filmmakers and artists of their income, and its bad effects to our film industry in general.
