The film is directed by the animator, illustrator, and journalist Arthur Jones. It follows Pepe the Frog, from his innocent roots as a comic book character by Matt Furie; his transformation into a meme; his descent into becoming a hate symbol; and Furie taking action for Pepe’s redemption.
