WATCH: How Technology May Destroy Us in First Trailer For ‘Connected’

From distractions to destruction!

From the same minds behind the Oscar winning film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse comes a new animated film about destructive technology!

In Connecteda family disconnected by too much technology goes on a roadtrip, only to discover that electronic devices are planning to take over the world! Check out the film's official trailer below:

In the trailer, the sudden pops of colorful 2D art over the 3D animation is quite similar to Spider-Verse, but we can't deny that this film has its own charm. While the superhero flick took elements from the comics, the inspiration for the said effect in Connected seems to have come from the 2D stickers and GIFs that we love to put over our photos and videos on social media platforms– something that really sticks to this new film's story.

Connected revolves around the Mitchells, a family consumed by technology. When the eldest child, Katie, gets accepted into the film school of her dreams, her  nature-loving dad Rick decides to take the whole family to the ultimate roadtrip. During this trip, however, robots and electronic devices began an uprising and it is up to the Mitchells, their chubby pug Monchi, and two friendly malfunctioning robots, to save the world from this treacherous tech takeover.

This film is directed by Gravity Falls creative director Michael Rianda and produced by Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. It stars the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, and Mike Rianda. It is set for a US release on September 18.
