In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the beloved blue hedgehog returns to the big screen, eager to prove he’s a hero as he settles in the small town of Green Hills. 1. The stars from the first film return for the sequel
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 stars James Marsden and Ben Schwartz return as Sheriff Tom Wachowski and the voice of Sonic, respectively, and also returning are Tika Sumpter (Tom’s wife Maddie), Natasha Rothwell (as Rachel, Maddie’s sister) and Adam Pally (Tom’s deputy sheriff friend). Jim Carrey reprises his role as Dr. Robotnik, sporting a newly enhanced mustache in the sequel!
2. Tails is voiced by the longtime voice actor of Tails in the video games
Colleen O’Shaughnessey’s voice goes from video game to big screen! She is actually a longtime voice of Tails in the video games, so fans of games can look forward to her familiar voice as Sonic the Hedgehog’s two-tailed ally. She’s also a voice talent for other popular titles like Digimon, Naruto, and Bleach.
3. Idris Elba voices Knuckles, Dr. Robotnik’s new partner-in-crime
The Suicide Squad and Pacific Rim actor is no stranger to voice acting. Idris Elba has voiced several other characters in films such as Zootopia, The Jungle Book, and Finding Dory. In Sonic 2, he voices Knuckles the Echnida, a powerful fighter and the sole survivor of his tribe. In the sequel, he teams up with Dr. Robotnik to hunt for the powerful emerald.

4. There’s a comic one-shot prequel to ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’

According to Deadline’s exclusive update, they’re further extending the Sonic universe with a third feature film now in development. Additionally, Sega and Paramount+ are teaming up for a live-action Sonic series set to be launched next year!
