On July 31, Italian-Japanese celebrity chef Salvatore Cuomo opens yet another high-end resto at the Metro!
From the Salvatore Cuomo Grill & Bar at Uptown Bonifacio, the chef’s signature dishes will finally arrive at The Podium in Ortigas on a much fresher ambience and casual dining experience with the introduction of Salvatore Cuomo Café.
Chef Salvatore Cuomo is known for his dual roles as chef and piazzolo. He grew up in Naples in Italy, home to the Napoli-style pizza and is the city considered as the birthplace of modern pizza. Salvatore Cuomo Café recreates the authentic pizza of Naples with the age-old techniques of preparation and cooking with their woodfire ovens that reach up to 400 to 450 degrees Celsius.
Upon entrance you’d be warped into a space of delightful respite with the restaurant’s vibrant and cosy interior. The muted hues of wood and warm bricks offer a laid-back dining experience while the slim trees poking out of the tables give an outdoor nature vibe even when you’re at the heart of a bustling city.
Before Salvatore Cuomo Café officially opens this July 31, we're giving you a sneak peek of some of their signature dishes.
Dig in to appetizers with the light Minestrone (P220) soup and Tomato Salad (P380) made with surprisingly sweet tomatoes. Chef Cuomo revealed that these tomatoes are supplied by local farmers operating the smart Korean greenhouses in Benguet, thus, its different taste from the common local tomatoes.
To get your appetite ready for the rich Italian feast to come, indulge on the Eggplant Parmigiana (P450) as a precursor to the restaurant's pizzas.
The Margherita (P420/P550) is one of their basic Napoli style pizzas. It is simply topped with Mozzarella, Grana Padano, and basil, yet the crust is very thin and soft that each bite is all about the authenticity of flavors from its ingredients.
They also offer an Eggplant Parmigiana Pizza (P820) where soft eggplant strips are topped over a traditional pan pizza of Mozzarella, basil, Asiago and Grana Padano cheese, all complementing each other.
The Salvatore Style Aglio Olio (P360) is a zesty pasta dish with the perfect ensemble of flavors from the extra virgin olive oil, fresh garlic, dried chili, cherry tomato, crispy pork, parsley, and pecorino cheese.
Salvatore Cuomo Café's homemade Porchetta offers a plate of tender and savory roast pork slices with the sapor on each bite amplified by the garnishes and Balsamic reduction.
The popular desserts of Italy are also here at Salvatore Cuomo Café. Their Affogato (P180) is a generous serving of latte gelato topped with chocolate and drizzled with coffee powder. Watch it all come together as you pour down a shot of hot Espresso.
The Classic Panna Cotta (P190) is a light and sweet assault to the palate with a sugar-infused mix of creme caramel and dacquoise. For that nutty and creamy indulgence with a crunch, the Sicilian Cannoli (P220) is your best decadent choice.
So if you're searching for a simple space with the best Italian food there is, Salvatore Cuomo Café is definitely your place to go, so Bon Appétit!
