Love Spicy? New Chinese Restaurant ‘Hediu Grill Station’ Will Satisfy You

For the ones who are looking for a new place in Manila to check out that would satisfy their cravings for some good barbeque, Hediu Grill Station has recently opened at SM By The Bay to serve people some delicious and authentic Szechuan cuisine.

If there's something that Filipinos love to do, it's to eat and drink until their hearts would allow it. We would always find a reason to celebrate anything there is to celebrate – may it be a birthday, a job promotion, or even just the end of a really long work week, probably explaining why there's a sudden spread of barbeque restaurants all over the metro.

For the ones who are looking for a new place in Manila to check out that would satisfy their cravings for some good barbeque, Hediu Grill Station has recently opened at SM By The Bay to serve people some delicious and authentic Szechuan cuisine.

Catering to those who want to eat and drink from the late afternoon to the wee hours of the morning, Hediu is open from 4PM to 6AM, so you can definitely come to visit here when you suddenly have that craving even at 2 in the morning!

This new barbeque place specializes in Szechuan cuisine, so expect to have meat and seafood dishes that are both spicy and flavorful when you dine here. They also offer a BBQ-All-You-Can Promo for P999 where you can enjoy unlimited grilled dishes, as well as a choice of both a cold appetizer and a signature dish that's good for 2.

If you want to focus more on their specialty dishes though, instead of going for the unlimited option, you can always choose from their wide variety of dishes that go from meat to seafood.  Just make sure that you can really handle the spice, as the spice level can't be lessened, but can only be increased by asking for more sauce. Also note that their barbeque dishes are grilled in the kitchen, so if you worry about smelling like smoke and meat once you're done, you wouldn't have that kind of issue here!

Here are 6 dishes that you should definitely give a try when you dine at Hediu Grill Station:

Grilled Pork, Grilled Shrimp, and Grilled Beef

If there's one thing you should definitely miss, it's their barbeque dishes. They have everything from mushroom to beef. A serving always comes with 6 sticks, perfect for sharing for a group of friends who want to try just a bit of everything. Each stick is topped with Sichuan spices that are just enough to give you a bit of heat in every bite.

Sichuan Spiced Nail Shell (P368)
Stir-Fried Spiced Crayfish (P1688)

A seafood specialty here is their Sichuan Spiced Nail Shell, which, like the other dishes on the menu, is best enjoyed with a warm cup of rice and a cold bottle of beer. Their Stir-Fried Spiced Crayfish is also a good dish to try if you're into spicy food as its sauce is perfectly seasoned with the right amount of spice to give the crayfish a kick that also goes right into the meat.

The staff would recommend to eat the dishes with your bare hands, but if you're one who gets extra careful on not smelling like the spices, you can always use the plastic gloves that they have available.

Stir-Fried Clams in Special Sauce (P368)
Stir-Fried Elephant Shell with Garlic (P498)

Compared to the previous dishes, the Stir-Fried Clams in Special Sauce is less of a work to eat and enjoy but is still as good and as worth it for its price. It's also not as spicy, so if your tolerance for these kinds of dishes is low, you'll still be able to enjoy this nonetheless!

Ask the staff at Hediu which dish from the menu they recommend, and they would probably suggest the Stir-Fried Elephant Shell with Garlic. Another dish that's less spicy than the others, this dish features a mix of both the buttery and the garlicky flavors you'd usually enjoy with shrimp.

Twice-Cooked Pork Belly (P368)

Those who can't do away with meat can go for the Twice-Cooked Pork Belly, served with a variety of vegetables and chilis that add more flavor and spice to the already flavorful dish.

Hediu Grill Station is at Seaside Boulevard, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay, Metro Manila. For more information, you may check out their Facebook and Instagram pages.
