Michelle Yeoh Joins Netflix’s Upcoming Prequel Series ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’

Michelle Yeoh will be playing Scian the sword-elf in the upcoming spinoff series.

After the success of The Witcher, Netflix was quick to announce that besides the second season of the series, fans can also look forward to a spinoff titled The Witcher: Blood Origin.

The six-part, live-action limited series will be a prequel to the hit show starring Henry Cavill, and it will be set in an elven world 1,200 years before the story of Geralt of Rivia began. Michelle Yeoh, who starred in films like Crazy Rich Asians, Tomorrow Never Dies, and the series Star Trek: Discovery, is joining the cast as Scian, the last remaining member of a nomadic tribe of sword-elves.

As the show describes her: “No one can come close to her artistry with the blade, and no one carries as much loss within their heart. When a chance presents itself to retrieve a stolen sacred sword, taken from her fallen tribe by nefarious means, she launches herself into a deadly quest that will change the outcome of the Continent.”

Blood Origin will reveal how the first prototype Witcher was created, and what events led to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres.

Also part of the cast is Laurence Oā€™Fuarain who plays the role of the warrior Fjall. A warrior sworn to protect the King, Fjall’s painful past drives him to go on a quest across the Continent seeking vengeance and redemption. More details about the other cast members and the release date of the show are yet to be revealed.
