If you have been hyped with intrigue and controversy brought about by sociopaths of Netflix originals like You and the real crime documentary The Ted Bundy Tapes, the true-crime drama series Dirty John might just be the next thing to fuel your nightmares.
Wealthy businesswoman and a mom-of-two Debra Newell (Connie Britton) rushes into a romantic relationship with John Meehan (Eric Bana), a man she just met on a dating app. It seems a perfect love story in the beginning, but little did Debra know that her lover's dark secrets would pretty soon manifest.
Watch the trailer here:
John turns out to be a con-man and sociopath, who would seduce women and later blackmail them with their private photos. He has also spent his time in jail for drugs and stalking. This time it is Debra who will find herself caught in his web of lies and manipulation.
What makes this a real nightmare is it being real. Based on a true-crime story, the actual John Meehan picked up his moniker 'Dirty John' from how he talked to the women (who are soon to be his victims) after having them in bed.
