8 Things to Do at InterContinental Manila Before It Closes For Good on December 31, 2015

Paint your holiday season in many shades of nostalgia with InterContinental Manila, Makati's 46 year old hotel (the first 5-star in the city) filled with memories and legacy. Here are eight things you can do (including special promos and dinners) to spend the remaining days with the iconic Intercon before she bids her last farewell.

As an anchor hotel in Makati– the first 5-star hotel in the city which opened in 1969 — InterContinental Manila enjoys a premier address in Ayala Center: 1 Ayala Avenue. Its prime location has made it a top choice for business travelers and leisure vacations, too: a quick walk from Intercon are all the commercial establishments, shopping malls, and the entire Makati CBD.

The landmark hotel has announced that its final day of operations is December 31, 2015, as the space it occupies is a portion of a new mixed-used development which is a part of a redevelopment plan by Ayala Land Inc.

What better way to celebrate the legacy and memories created in this iconic hotel by paying it a visit this holiday season? Enjoy nostalgia with InterContinental Manila, Makati's 46 year old hotel in its final weeks of operations. Here are eight things you can do to spend the remaining days with the iconic Intercon before she bids her last farewell.

1. Take photographs of its iconic structure designed by a National Artist

InterContinental Manila is designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin, whose iconic works in the Philippines include the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), and other Makati structures like Mandarin Oriental Manila which closed last year and the Makati Stock Exchange Building. Vantage points to consider for your photos: take snapshots from the hotel poolside, Glorietta 4 park in the evening to capture the facade, or by the beginning of Ayala Avenue from EDSA.

2. Book a staycation

Better yet, take photos during your stay at the hotel, so you can also photograph the timeless hotel room design and the evening view of Makati from your suite — you won't get to enjoy any of these once Intercon finally closes its doors. The classic hues of Manila warmth in every hotel room and suite is nostalgic, and with complete amenities to make sure your staycation is comfortable and luxurious. Room rates start at P7,500 a night, and the last stay date that the hotel will accept is December 31, 2015.

Promo alert: MasterCard cardholders can avail of the Makati Staycation package to get 50% Off on Best Flexible rates (with or without breakfast) on Weekends (Friday – Sunday), which includes Buffet breakfast (depending on rate booked) at Café Jeepney for two persons. Also get 50% Off in Café Jeepney, one free diner for every group of three diners in Prince Albert, and a Circuit Makati Bundle.

3. Enjoy a final happy hour and toast to the wonderful moments of past

Choose your way of winding down a long day: is it enjoying a poolside garden view with a drink in hand, or listening to good music in the comforts of an airconditioned lounge? Both Gambrinus Bar and Sol y Sombra are offering special promos until November 30th to make your happy hour even happier: from 5-7pm you can have unlimited draft beer for P380++ or unlimited cocktails for P680++, or enjoy a complimentarty second glass/bottle of wine whenever you purchase a glass/bottle of Wolfblass wine.

4. Fill yourself with local flavor, nostalgic jeepney decor, and Crepe Samurai

Did you know that before Cafe Jeepney's famous jeepney-themed decor, the buffet restaurant had actual jeepneys inside that served as booth seats for diners? Now that the iconic restaurant is on its final operating weeks, it's time to enjoy a filling lunch or dinner buffet and finish off with their best-selling Crepe Samurai. You can take home their iconic dreamy mango dish, Cafe Jeepney's signature dessert, for a discounted price from December 1 to 30. Not only will they have the Crepe Samurai for sale — they will also include the recipe for the dessert! Advanced orders for the Crepe Samurai (Small/P460++, Large/P1,460++) are accepted, call 793-7000 ext. 771.

5. Book a table and sink your teeth on succulent Prime Rib at Prince Albert's Rotisserie

Personalities, celebrities, and politicians of generations past have called Prince Albert Rotisserie their go-to steakhouse, and its elegant backdrop makes it a perfect dinner destination and a meeting place for executives. Among all their celebrated dishes through the decades, it is the Prince Albert Prime Rib (P1,700/250gm, P2,850/500g) that shines the brightest — served with Yorkshire pudding, gratin potatoes, marinated grilled vegetables, and red wine jus. We predict that the sales of this meaty entree will soar high especially on the last remaining days of the restaurant in Intercontinental Manila, so best to make your dinner reservations the soonest (last day of operations is December 31, 2015).
