Two Seasons Island Resort & Spa: A Luxury Eco-paradise in Coron, Palawan

Enjoy pristine beaches, practice sustainable tourism, and re-connect with nature at this all-inclusive resort in Coron.

Its crystal blue-green seas and lakes (the cleanest in the country), endless stretches of immaculate beaches, and iconic, towering limestone formations earned Coron a spot in the list of the best places to visit in the Philippines. Most people who have been to Coron claim to have seen paradise. Many return. No one leaves unimpressed.

While there is no shortage of decent accommodation options when visiting Coron, one must travel 22 kilometres further to enjoy its natural wonders while staying in the lap of luxury. Accessed via a 30-minute speed boat ride from the town pier, the 16-hectare Two Seasons Island Resort & Spa property in Malaroyroy Island peninsula is considered by many to be the most-premier luxury option in Coron. Having seen the resort’s unparalleled 180-degree viewpoint, enjoyed both sunrise and sunset, slept in its villa (that belongs in a billionaire’s beach house), and experienced attentive, personalized service, I find it hard to disagree.

All-inclusive, private, tranquil

Going above and beyond the standard resort amenities, Two Seasons Island Resort & Spa offers endless opportunities for indulgence. The resort makes it possible for guests to spend their whole vacation on-site. “We provide everything from accommodation, food and dining, tours, aqua sports, and spa,” Dennis P. Riego, the resort manager pointed out.

The resort is in an island peninsula with a 200-meter west side white beach and another 200-meter east side beach with mangroves. It also has a sandbar (can be crossed during low tide) that leads to an islet with lush tropical gardens.

Two Seasons is threaded by winding pathways; hotel golf carts are needed to go just about anywhere. The 42 villa-resort features natural but contemporary décor. Imagine clean lines, white walls, and rich polished woods complemented with modern amenities. High-beamed ceilings and beach house music give the large public spaces a cozy feel.

Mountain Bungalow

“The villas are built ideally for couples. But we also have ten villas (Sea View deluxe bungalow) built for families and groups,” Dennis explained. The Mountain View bungalows are uphill gives you the perfect view of the hillside. The Sea View Bungalow, also uphill, shows you an overview of the ocean. Of course, the Beach View bungalow, as its name implies rewards guests an access to the beach front.

Island Tip Bungalow Bathroom

The crème de la crème of its accommodations are Island Tip bungalows, located further up north. Furnished with king-sized beds and equipped with an outdoor jacuzzi that overlooks the ocean, these villas are often temporary homes for honeymooners staying at the resort. The elegant rooms here also feature flat-screen TVs and probably the best bathrooms in the country.

Sandbar Bungalow, located on the pointed tip of the island, is Two Seasons’ most premiere room.  The guests who can afford Two Seasons’ most expensive room are rewarded with a breathtaking unobstructed 180-degree east and west views of the ocean and surrounding islands.

As for food and dining, there’s the Sulu restaurant which offers a wide range of menu selections, but mainly Filipino Fusion and Japanese specialties. Guests who lounge all day by the beach end their nights at the Bahura bar, which has a Jacuzzi by the bar. Foosball, pool, and KTV options are available in Bahura.

Active visitors will find lots to do both on and off the grounds, including wake boarding, kite boarding, diving, snorkelling (complimentary snorkel equipment), banana boats, and water skis. Two Seasons is known for the Hydrobob or underwater scooter and the Molokini, a two-seater transparent kayak. Both of these can be used to explore the reefs surrounding the island.

No, that's not an LCD screen nor a painting.

When at Two Seasons, one must not pass up the opportunity to relax in the Narra spa villa. The private spa rooms, decorated in natural materials including wood, bamboo, and stone, have their own jacuzzis, sauna, bath tubs, vischi showers, cooling pools, and meditation decks. Narra spa feels appropriately exclusive and private, and your stay there would account to the best one to two hours you’ll spend in Coron.

Equipped with a blessed chapel, Two Seasons also invites couples who want to celebrate their nuptials by the beach.  “Before the resort was here, the same spot also had a chapel in the very spot. It is blessed and registered so couples can marry in this island,” Dennis narrated.

Self-Sustaining, Environment Friendly

Two Seasons Coron places strong emphasis on its environmental policies. The island’s top green hotel is self-sustaining. Since power and water are not available from any utility company, Two Seasons run on generators and maintain their own desalination plant where in sea water is converted to non-potable water. They also have a sophisticated system where in waste water is cleaned and reverted back for use as toilet water. Organic waste from food consumption is used as fertilizer so as not to discharge waste to the sea.

Signature, Filipino Hospitality

Two Seasons’ service truly separates it from its competitors: at the airport, check-in guests are greeted drinks, snacks, and cool washcloths. Upon arrival at the resort, you will be welcomed with leis and refreshing drinks. Additional thoughtful touches include bottled water and anti-emetic medicine supply during boat rides, consume all you can mini bars, and 24/7 hotel golf cart service. The farewell party service that will bring you to the airport won’t even leave until they’re sure that your plane has departed.
