Microsoft has Announced the release of Windows 10 and it’s Free

Windows 10 will be available for free on July 29 and you can reserve an upgrade now.

Microsoft has announced a release date for their new operating system, Windows 10. The new OS will be available on July 29, according to Terry Myerson, Microsoft's Executive Vice President of Operating Systems.

The upgrade will be for free for users who have bought a computer in the past six years that is powered by Windows 7 or tablets running Windows 8.1.

On a blog post, they said that they "will continue to update Windows 10 with new innovations to help you be more productive and have more fun." Similar to the new operating system, they said that the future updates will be free as long as it's supported by the device.

The company has also released the system requirements for PCs and tablets: a 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and with a display resolution of at leasat 1,024 x 600.

Today, Microsoft posted a video highlighting its features in Windows 10, including the first digital assistant called Cortana, a web browser called Microsoft Edge, a biometric authentication called Hello Windows and a few more.
