Here are the Top 10 Best in National Costume of Binibining Pilipinas 2021

 Binibining Pilipinas has announced this yearā€™s 10 best national costumes in a jaw-dropping fashion show that aired online on Sunday, June 27. 

Two weeks before the coronation night, Binibining Pilipinas aired on its YouTube channel a virtual presentation that showcased the 34 Binibinis in their colorful and creative locally-designed outfits. Shot at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City, it presented the diversity of our country’s rich history and culture. 

At the end of the show, ten candidates were named as part of this year’s best in national costumes. They garnered the most number of votes from netizens via the Binibining Pilipinas website and Tiktok channel since voting officially opened on June 12.

Comprising the top 10 Best in National Costume of Binibining Pilipinas 2021 are:

Binibini 1 from Cavite ā€“ Samantha Alexandra Panlilio

Binibining Pilipinas 2021

Embellished with golden wings and a fiery cape, this national costume symbolizes the countryā€™s liberation from Spanish colonizers. The shining crown is a tribute to her aunt, the first Binibining Pilipinas winner, Myrna Panlilio.

Binibini 11 from Bocaue Bulacan – Vianca Louise Marcelo

Binibining Pilipinas 2021

This costume is inspired by sarimanok, a mystical creature of Philippine folklore. The yellow Filipiniana gown represents hope and joy amidst the pandemic. It was made using unique embroidery technique from Bocaue, Bulacan called Kadineta.

Titled ā€œBelleza de Oroā€ or beauty of gold, this gown is donned with golden scales which represent the golden coconut called Kuyamis, which is the namesake of an annual festival in Cagayan de Oro that celebrates good harvest.

Inspired by the Bulaklakan Festival, this national costume is a hand-embroidered ball gown embellished with hand-painted and recycled 3D flower art. It has a Singkaban or a bamboo arch decorated with vibrant flowers.

Binibining Pilipinas 2021

This outfit pays homage to the Rice Granary of the Philippines, Nueva Ecija. It is adorned with beads that resemble palay or rice grains. The train represents the vast rice fields of the province, as well as the persistence and hardwork of Novo Ecijanos.

This national costume portrays a water deity emerging from the sea. The silver terno depicts fishing nets, while the shell casts an illusion of the giant waves of La Union that make this coastal province the surfing capital of the north.

Binibining Pilipinas 2021

This ensemble is mostly made of “DASE” or banig, and is meticulously handcrafted by the Aetas in Nabuclod, Floridablanca, Pampanga. It pays homage to Pampangaā€™s patroness, the miraculous Virgen De Los Remedios.

Dubbed as La Luz Dela Paz, or ā€œlight of peaceā€, this national costume represents the traditional Christmas symbol in Angeles City – the distinct Parul Angeles (or Angeles lantern) known to bring hope and prosperity.

Binibining Pilipinas 2021

This national costume shows the flourishing and abundant culture of 11 tribes in Mindanao. Symbols of the T’nalak of the Tiboli and Inaul of Maguindanaoan were incorporated in this waling-waling couture gown. 

Another round of public voting via the Binibining Pilipinas website will be opened to decide who among these Top 10 qualifiers will bag the Best in National Costume on the pageant’s grand coronation night.

This yearā€™s pageant, happening on July 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, will crown four queens — Binibining Pilipinas International, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental, and Binibining Pilipinas Globe. 

Hosted by beauty queens Catriona Gray and Nicole Cordoves, it will be aired on A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and Metro Channel, and will be simultaneously livestreamed on iWantTFC and the official Binibining Pilipinas YouTube page.
