Culinary heritage, guitar music, film archives and storytelling are the aspects of Philippine art and culture taking the spotlight in Art 2 Art for the month of June.

Produced by the Manila Broadcasting Company and hosted by “Ballerina ng Bayan” Lisa Macuja, Art 2 Art airs every Sunday, 3:30 to 4 p.m., on radio via DZRH (666 khz on the AM band), on cable television via RHTV (Ch. 129 on Skycable in Metro Manila, Ch. 18 on Cignal TV and Ch. 3 on Cablelink) and livestreaming at http://dzrhnews television.tv. Amy Besa

On June 3, author and culinary historian Amy Besa relates how she and husband, chef Romy Dorotan, helped introduce Philippine cuisine to foreign palates in their restaurants in New York. In 2016, they opened Purple Yam in Malate, offering a special menu making use of locally sourced produce and ingredients.

On June 17, children’s book authors Robert Magnuson and Justine Hail talk about their initiative called Story Starters. Described as a “creative community for kids,” Story Starters aims to encourage kids to discover and use their writing talent.

Vicky Belarmino and Teddy Co

On June 24, representatives of the Society of Filipino Archivists for Film (SOFIA) discuss the group’s mission as it marks its 25th anniversary this year. President Vicky Belarmino of the Cultural Center of the Philippines Media Arts Division and member Teddy Co of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Cinema Committee talk about film preservation, film festivals and other activities SOFIA has been engaged in.
