A modern take on Daphne du Maurier’s 1938 gothic thriller novel, Rebecca has been adapted a number of times for the stage and screen. This time, director Ben Wheatley brings it to the streaming service, starring Armie Hammer and Lily James.
It follows a newly married woman who arrives at Manderley with handsome widower Maxim de Winter. What started as a whirlwind romance becomes alarming when she is haunted by the ghost of the dead first wife, Rebecca, whose legacy is kept alive by the estate’s sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers.
