Longtime Batman fans in the Philippines will get the much-awaited backstory of Batman’s closest confidante in the first season of the DC origin story that follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, debuting on Warner TV on 29 June at 9pm. New episodes air every Monday at 9pm.
Pennyworth follows Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon – The Imitation Game), a former British SAS soldier in his 20s, who forms a security company in 1960s London and goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge – Our Girl, Reign, Fleabag) before he became Bruce Wayne’s father.
In addition to Bannon and Aldridge, Pennyworth stars Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack), Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (Eastenders), Ryan Fletcher (Outlander), and Dorothy Atkinson (Hanna, Harlots, Call the Midwife), with Paloma Faith (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) and Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
Based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, the 10-episode drama series from Warner Horizon Scripted Television is executive produced by Bruno Heller (Gotham, The Mentalist, Rome) and Danny Cannon (Gotham, CSI series).
